Representation of humid tropical ecosystems, fundamentally malangas and ferns.
They constitute the ecosystems richest in diversity of life on Earth. They are found in the tropical areas on both sides of the equator, where it rains all year round. Its structure is complex, with several strata of trees and shrubs, numerous herbaceous, as well as abundant climbers or vines and epiphytes (means they live on the branches or trunks of other plants, but are not parasitic, do not feed on them). A rich and varied fauna is associated with them.
In Cuba these forests covered more than 90% of their area at the arrival of the Spanish colonizers. Today, only tropical moist forests remain in the mountains.
